Well, I was ever so looking forward to these cabbage rolls. It has been so very long since I have had the opportunity to dive into one of them.
One thing about the book and the recipe was that it simply stated I needed 12 Cabbage leaves, it offered no tips or directions on how to remove the leaves. I became quite frustrated and eventually got upset and made a cabbage and rice casserole. It tasted great but I will not be posting it simply as I don't think it was a success. I started going through my old posts to make an index on my computer and am so annoyed by the quality of some of the documents that have been uploaded in the past. I'll be slowly going through them and updating to make them more legible. I will also be updating pictures as well that are of poor quality in comparison to some of the newer things I have shared with you all! HAPPY VEG My version is a 50/50 Brussel Sprout /Broccoli mix which makes for a wonderful marriage of flavours! I've added fresh garlic and cooked the broccoli / sprouts in butter and vegetable stock as opposed to water. The crust is a combination of Italian bread crumbs, Corn Flake Crumbs, fresh parsley, and melted butter. The whole dish turned out great and I think you could even get the kids eating their greens with this dish!
As my earlier post stated, I recently reviewed some old cookbooks I had collecting dust in my closet and came across some recipes that I knew would be delicious with a little updating! This weeks menu has a main, an appetizer, and a side - all of which sound delicious and I look forward to sharing them with you!
I'm so excited to give these recipes a 2015 update and think you'll all just love them! As a matter of fact, I know you'll love them!
