I loved that one serving of the tots contained one full serving of cauliflower. Getting enough veggies in a day is so important and this is a great opportunity to slip an extra serving into your day!
There is one small problem with these delicious tots. A serving is considered 6 tots and comes along with 15% of your daily sodium allowance. This is especially troubling if you're anything like me and wanted to devour the whole darned bag in one sitting! Make sure to keep it to one or two servings to reap the benefits of the cauliflower without pummeling your body with a whole day's worth of sodium!
I loved this product and I look forward to trying their other varieties! Find them in the frozen vegetable section of your supermarket!
If you spot these in the fresh section of your market, give them a go! There are some shortcuts that are absolutely worth taking and this would be one of them!

I found them to be crispy on the outside and even quite juicy on the inside. The texture was pretty close to what I remembered chicken to be like and they had a great flavour. My father ate his entire serving and remarked that they were quite close to real chicken. If my father is convinced they were pretty close, I'd say they were pretty bang on as he still eats meat regularly.
Overall, they were delicious and comparable to a meat product. They are great for snacking or as a meal with a delicious salad on the side. Definitely worth a buy if you spot them at the market on your next trip!
Stay tuned for more product reviews!
I seasoned them with sea salt and a drizzle of EVOO and tossed them into the oven to bake. They definitely get brown and crispy like traditional tots but I found that they needed to cook a bit longer than what the package recommended to get that crispy outside I was hoping for.
Flavour wise they were pretty delicious and I definitely enjoyed the flavours of broccoli. It was a welcome change from traditional tots. I enjoyed the crispy outside but did find that the inside was a bit of a mash so the texture was a bit different than a traditional tot. Not that big of a deal when you consider the benefits of switching to a veggie tot now and again!
Overall, they were crispy on the outside, tasty, and no more expensive than name brand tots. I loved the flavour of broccoli and I loved that every serving of the tots came with a serving of veggies. I would seriously recommend making the swap to veggie tots every so often to keep things interesting and benefit from the veggie servings. After eating these, I'm looking forward to trying the cauliflower tots they offer as well!

MORAL OF THE STORY - Don't give up on Parmesan! Most grated Parmesans I looked at did not list rennet as an ingredient so it's my understanding that they are vegetarian. Expect that if you buy a piece of Parmigiano that you're expected to grate, it's definitely authentic and has rennet.
Very sad news for all the vegetarians out there who are enjoying these cheeses and that includes myself. I stumbled across this post today and was shocked to discover the facts about them. Let me explain!
There are 5 cheeses currently that utilize "rennet" to help with the curdling process. Rennet is an enzyme found in the stomach lining of a calf to help them digest milk products. Unfortunately, using rennet in the curdling process actually makes the cheese a non vegetarian cheese. These 5 cheeses are:
As a Vegetarian, it's important to educate yourself and there will always be something new to learn. I've been a Vegetarian now for almost 16 years and this was news to me so it's definitely a learning process. I will be reading my ingredients a little better when I purchase any cheese the next time I visit the market and y'all should definitely do the same. It's going to be hard to stop using parmesan but I refuse to eat anything that involves the stomach lining of a slaughtered calf.
Bad news for those of us who LOVED Gardein products, they've temporarily pulled most of their products out of Canadian markets.
Gardein, creator of products that include fishless filets, crabless cakes, and a variety of chik'n products, has decided to remove a plethora of products from Canadian markets because of an inability to meet demand. They're currently investing in a larger facility and will decide at a later date whether they will reintroduce their products back into Canadian markets.
This is seriously bad news for vegans and vegetarians like myself who relied on the fabulous variety that Gardein provided. I was purchasing at least 2 of their products on a weekly basis and regularly dealt with shortages but the products were so good that I was determined to hunt them down. Knowing now that they are not around, it's extremely disappointing.
Don't get me wrong, YVES makes a variety of delicious meatless products as well but Gardein's variety couldn't be beat. There was literally every kind of "meat" you could think of making it fun to prepare dinner. Something different to enjoy every night to center your meal around, it's very unfortunate that they'll not be available for what could be forever.
Anywho, thought y'all would like to know the details because if you're anything like me, you've been hunting to no avail.

Enjoying a smoothie is a great opportunity to pump our bodies full of a variety of fruits and veggies and all of the vitamins and minerals that come along with them. I try to enjoy a smoothie at least once every other day but sometimes I'm out of the house from early morning until late at night and can't get to my blender.
That's where Bolthouse Farms Smoothies come in!
Bolthouse Farms offers a variety of delicious and nutritious smoothies that are a great substitute for homemade in a pinch. With flavours that include Blue Goodness, Berry & Green Veg, and Amazing Mango, there's a flavour combination for everyone.
What I especially love about this line of smoothies is that they are naturally sweetened. A few weeks ago I offered up some tips regarding shopping for fruity beverages. If you remember, I told you all to watch out for added sugars in beverages like this one. There's no need for additional sugar when you are adding an abundance of fruits, all of which are naturally sweet. I've scoured the ingredients and found no added sugars in this line of smoothies which is definitely a bonus of the line!
Remember, there's nothing like a scratch made smoothie but this line of smoothies is about as good as it gets when it comes to store bought. They're creamy and rich, abundant with fruits and veggies, and contain no added sugars. Look for them at your local grocer in the produce section.
