I want to bring attention to the deliciousness of these Chik'n Sliders from Gardein. I've featured them before but have had the opportunity to enjoy them a variety of ways.
FIRST RULE! - I can't stress enough the importance of using the oven vs the microwave. I say this with every single product that offers both cooking methods but there is a significant difference in the final product. Are they still delicious? Yes they are, but like the case of the tortoise and the hare, low and slow wins the race! Letting the patties and buns crisp up in the oven make them ever so much better. They are far more texturally pleasing and just feel better all around!
TIP: The phone rings, dog is barking, your chopping vegetables, whatever the case, the patties burn. I only burned them ONCE thank goodness and by putting sliced tomato on the top AND bottom, it saved them from being too crispy and really tasting over done.
How is best to enjoy them ? In my opinion, a dollop of olive oil mayo, chopped parsley, sliced tomato, and a crisp romaine leaf is really all you need. However,...
* try them with a little light cream cheese and thinly sliced cucumber. Give it a dash of pepper and you're there!
* try mixing a little mayo and diced pickle to make a quick tartar, it really goes well with the flavour and texture.
The moral of the story here folks is BUY THESE! They taste phenomenal, are loaded with vitamins and minerals, and really remind you how sweet being a vegetarian is!
