New Zealand has now banned sow stalls for pregnant pigs in what is being called a "Milestone for animal safety".
This is fantastic news however as they've mentioned, there is still a long way to go. To think that basically caging up pregnant pigs was to date, considered acceptable is just astounding tome. The world as a whole has a long way to go when it comes to acceptable conditions for animals. In my opinion there should be far stricter penalties for animal cruelty charges and there should be significant improvements to animal welfare in factory farming situations. I mean, in a perfect world, I'd see factory farming done away with entirely as it is basically an industry that tortures animals and is rapidly polluting our environment. That's another story though altogether! Three cheers for New Zealand and this ANIMAL WIN, let's keep moving in the right direction!
